St. Martinville Independence Day Bicentennial Celebration

Join in the fun on July 1, 2017 from 4 to 10pm as St. Martinville continues the celebration of our Bicentennial and revive a true St. Martinville tradition with an Independence Day Extravaganza on the bayou in Magnolia Park!

The flag raising at 4pm kicks off the evening’s activities as we honor our country and veterans.

It’s a fun-filled outdoor evening for the entire family, children and adults alike.   The large pavilion in the back of the park will play host beginning at 4:30pm to a red, white and blue themed Independence Baby Bicentennial Contest, as well as a bike decorating contest and Choir Extravaganza.

Dress your children in red, white and blue, ages 0-6, and come take part in the beauty pageant.   There will be 4 categories, 0-11mos., 12-23 mos., 2-4 yrs and 5-6 yrs.  Boys and girls are welcome. 

Or have your children, up to 12 years old, decorate their bikes in red, white and blue to take part in the bike decorating contest.   Young folks will compete in different age groups, and prizes will be awarded. 

The beauty pageant and bike decorating contest are free of charge.  Applications will be available in the near future.   Check out our Facebook page (St. Martinville Bicentennial) or call 1-337-394-2230 or 2233 for applications.   

At 5:30pm, local students will read the Declaration of Independence., followed by canoe races and other fun activities for adults and children.   A DJ kicks off the musical entertainment after the reading of the Declaration.

Finally, bring your blanket and enjoy the sounds of Louisiana Red from 7 to 10pm and watch the fireworks after sundown. 

Food, beer and other beverages will be available for purchase.   Food and crafts vendors are welcome.  Booths are available for $45, and vendors are asked to contact Christi Disher at 337.839.2874 for further info.
