Wednesdays, Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic Site, St. Martinville - Creole Housekeeping, 10:30 a.m. & 3:30 p.m. Follow our Interpretive Ranger on a walk through a 19th century Creole home. Jan 21, Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic Site, St. Martinville - Attakapas Trade Day (Free School Program), 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Costumed staff will give tours and depict life in the early 1800's. Demonstrations will include cooking on an open fire, shooting blackpowder weapons, and blacksmithing. This program will give visitors the opportunity to compare the lifestyles of the wealthy planter to that of the simple farmer and the nomadic traders and hunters. Jan. 30, Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic Site, St. Martinville - Vigilantes on the Bayou, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. This program will depict a violent era in the history of South Louisiana. Two encampments will be setup, one camp to portray the vigilantes and one group at the farmstead to portray the anti-vigilantes.
